Tanguar Haor : The biggest wetland of Bangladesh



Tanguar Haor is one of the biggest wetland of Bangladesh.It's a beautiful natural sight of this country.Tanguar haor, lying in the Dharmapasha and Tahirpur upazilas of Sunamganj District in Bangladesh.

Tanguar Haor is a unique wetland ecosystem of national importance and has come into international  focus.The area of Tanguar haor  is about 100km2 of which 2,802.36 ha2 is wetland  including 46 villages.Tanguar Haor is the source of livelihood for more than 40,000 people.


In 1999 the Government of Bangladesh declared Tanguar haor as an Ecologically Critical Area.With this declaration,the Government takes many steps to protect the hoar.Tanguar Haor is called "mother fishery" of Bangladesh.More than 140 species of fresh water fish in the haor. She plays an important role in fish productions.
This hoar also home of many birds.Every winter the haor is home to about 200 types of migratory birds.It's a mind blowing place for take a tour.Every winter you can see many birds here.You can fishing in this hour.If you want,you can make a journey by boat.The natural beauty of the Tanguar haor attracts the tourists and the haor can be turned as an significant tourist place.I want to invite you all to visit the Tanguar Haor.
