Mount Everest is the Global top mountain.It is section of the Himalayan Mountains.These were shaped in the last several million years.Following the super continent involving Laurasia broke up millions of years ago,India moved slowly north towards Asia and then crashed into it.
The seabed between the two plates was fragmented and pushed up on the northern rim of India to form mountains."Plate" means,the earth's crust is divided into large areas of land.Both of these plates of the earth's crust are still moving,for this reason the Himalayas are being pushed up higher.Mount Everest is growing two inches higher annually.Mount Everest is located along the border of Nepal and Tibet.It is located 27° 59' North latitude and 86° 55' East longitude.
It is discovered in 1841.Sir George Everest, Surveyor General of India from 1830 to 1843, first recorded the location of Everest. It was subsequently named "Peak XV".It was renamed Mount Everest to honor Sir George,in 1865.It is about 8,848 meters above sea level and the 5th tallest mountain measured from the center of the Earth.At the top of Everest it is windy. Blowing with the strength of a hurricane at 118+ miles/hour.As the altitude increases, the oxygen content of the air decreases dramatically. Temperature of Mount Everest is 97 degrees below freezing.
Individuals through the western hemisphere weren't permitted to go up Mount Everest until the earlier 1920's.Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay was climbed first it to the top.They climbed the mountain in 1953.Since then Everest has been climbed by 400 people.It's a great natural place and a natural heaven.The beauty of Mount Everest is mind blowing.Mount Everest surely charmed you.
